Arne Slot enjoyed a successful Premier League debut at Anfield as his Liverpool team comfortably defeated Brentford 2-0.

Goals either side of the break from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah sealed a perfect first outing on home soil for the Dutch boss.

Despite a flurry of late pressure from Brentford, there were few issues of concern for Slot, as Liverpool made it two wins from their first two EPL games of the campaign.

However, Liverpool fans on social media were eagle-eyed in spotting a frustrated Trent Alexander-Arnold, following Slot's decision to substitute him after 72 minutes.

Slot named an unchanged starting lineup from last weekend's win at Ipswich Town, in which Trent was also withdrawn late on, with the game already wrapped up at 2-0.

His key numbers from the game included four key passes, one big chance created and 100% ground duels won, but Slot was spotted speaking to his No.66 after the change.

Fans have praised Slot's man-management of the situation, looking to immediately quell the possibility of an issue being developing, particularly surrounding such an important player.

"I understand he is frustrated. Every player wants to play 90 minutes but I don't think the players on the bench were really happy with my decision from the start," Slot stated at full time.

Alexander-Arnold is rumoured to be a target for Real Madrid in 2025, with his contract expiring at the end of the season, and no clear indication over whether he will renew.

Up next for Slot and Liverpool is a major test, as they head to Manchester United on September 1, with Jurgen Klopp unbeaten in his last six EPL trips to Old Trafford including four wins.
