KL Rahul Meets Lucknow Super Giants Owner Sanjiv Goenka; LSG Captain Shares Thoughts Ahead of IPL 2025 Auction

New Delhi: Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul met with franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka in Kolkata on Monday to discuss his future with the team ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. While Rahul expressed his desire to be retained, no assurances were given by the top boss during their meeting. The IPL 2024 season didn't end on a positive note for LSG, as they missed out on a playoff spot due to net run rate. A viral video showed Rahul and Goenka engaged in an animated chat after a loss to the Sunrisers Hyderabad, highlighting the disappointment of the team's performance.

In fact, it was Rahul who led the side to the playoffs in the first two seasons in 2022 and 2023. It was also widely believed that Gautam Gambhir’s strategic acumen had a lot to do with their playoffs qualification in the first two years which got thoroughly exposed in the third season. Gambhir joined Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024.
