New Delhi: Punjab Kings (PBKS) took to their social media on Monday, March 17, to share an exciting update with their fans. The team announced the arrival of their captain, Shreyas Iyer, in preparation for the upcoming 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. With the 18th edition of this highly anticipated tournament set to kick off on March 22, fans can look forward to seeing Iyer lead the PBKS squad on the field.

The 30-year-old led the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to victory in the 2024 season but decided to leave the team before the 2025 mega auction. During the auction, he was acquired by Punjab Kings for an impressive INR 26.75 crore. In January, he was named their captain for the 2025 season.

As the 2025 season approaches in just a few days, the Kings posted a video on their official X account to reveal the arrival of their captain.

Shreyas played a significant role in the Indian team that triumphed in the 2025 Champions Trophy, where they overcame New Zealand in the final held on March 9 in Dubai. The Indian team won by four wickets to take home the championship. Throughout the tournament, Shreyas demonstrated outstanding performance, scoring a total of 243 runs across five innings, which featured two half-centuries.
