New Delhi: Despite high expectations from the senior players in India’s second innings of the Adelaide test match, fans were left disappointed. Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who had shifted to the middle order, failed to make an impact and was dismissed for just 6 runs off 15 balls. Rohit began the Test series against Bangladesh with scores of 6 and 5, and then followed with 23 and 8. He faced difficulties against New Zealand, managing scores of 2, 52, 0, 8, 18, and 11 across six innings. New Zealand pulled off a remarkable upset by whitewashing India 3-0, marking India’s first home series loss since 2012.
Rohit, who missed the first Test due to personal reasons, altered his batting position for the second Test, taking the number 6 spot. However, he could only manage 3 runs off 23 balls in the first innings and failed to make an impact in the second innings as well.
India needed a miracle to avoid defeat in Adelaide. They finished the second day’s play with a score of 128/5 on the board. The visitors still trailed by 29 runs and only had 5 wickets in hand.
