Cavaliers Trade Caris LeVert and Georges Niang to Hawks in Exchange for De'Andre Hunter and Draft Considerations

Forward-guard De’Andre Hunter has been traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for guard Caris LeVert, forward Georges Niang, three 2nd-round draft picks, and two pick swaps.

The Cavaliers struck the deal in the final hours before the 3 p.m. Eastern trade deadline, adjusting the supporting cast of a team that has made an enormous leap into contention this season.

Hunter has spent his entire career with Atlanta after being selected with the No. 4 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. He’s averaging a career-high 19.0 points this season to go along with 3.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists over 37 games in 2024-25.

LeVert, a dynamic veteran guard, has posted averages of 10.2 points and 3.7 assists in 23.8 minutes per game with Cleveland this season. Niang, a 6-foot-7 forward in the NBA since 2016, heads to Atlanta after one-plus season in Cleveland. He’s averaging 8.7 points and 3.7 rebounds over 51 games this season.
